UNISA 'Go Green' PLEDGE
The CEMS Going Green Committee started an initiative with the College of Economic & Management Sciences to have a concerted environmental drive amongst staff and UNISA to electronically submit their pledge to ‘go green'.
To assist with this very big awareness drive Open-Sky sponsored a Open-Sky blue wheelie recycling bin and 3-months free collection to the winner of the UNISA competition.
Congratulations to the winner Nadine

OPEN SKY RESOURCES RECOVERED LAST 3 MONTHS – 63 Tonnes (Plastics 34%)

When Open Sky launched in 2008 with the "Single Stream" mixed recycling concept collected every two weeks it was a unique concept in South Africa.
It has now taken off in the UK ! Oxfordshire Council has become the first to recycle more than 70% of residents' waste using fortnightly bin collections. The research by the Guardian Newspaper reveals that nine of the 10 English councils with the highest recycling rates have a system in which rubbish and recycling are collected on alternate weeks and pick-ups of "commingled recycling" in which tins, cans, plastic and paper can all be put into the same bin for collection was the way forward!
